52 jobs at stake after judge’s ruling, says Winston-Salem company

A federal judge upheld Wednesday her ruling that could mark the end of IFB Solutions Inc.’s eyeglass manufacturing contracts with the Veterans Administration as soon as October.

At stake is a potential cut of $15.4 million in annual revenue cut for the Winston-Salem nonprofit group and the risk that 52 jobs — more than half of its local laboratory workforce — would be eliminated.

The optical lab at IFB, formerly known as Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind Inc., has 45 jobs filled by employees who are blind, including 43 locally, and seven filled by veterans, including three locally.
